The most famous romantic tapestries were produced by Boucher and Oudry at Beauvais in the first half of the eighteenth century. They depicted an idealized way of life and were typified by scenes of young people dallying in idyllic country settings. Full of wit, vitality and pretty girls, they were perfectly suited to the boudoirs.
