This beautiful tapestry shows the following mythology characters: Cupid and three Graces.
Graces were the daughters of Zeus and Eurynome. There are three Graces: Aglaia (Splendor), Euphrosyne (Mirth), and Thalia (Good Cheer). They represent the three aspects of love: beauty, desire, and purity. "Desire" and "purity" are always standing against each other. "Beauty" harmonizes the friction between "desire" and "purity". In Greek mythology, the three Graces enhance the enjoyments of life by refinement and gentleness.
Cupid was a son of Aphrodite (Venus) and the angel of love. His "weapon" was darts or arrows. In either case, the tips have been magically treated to produce either uncontrollable love or insurmountable disinterested in the first person seen be Cupid's victim after wounding.
In this tapestry Cupid is blindfolded and aims his arrow to the one of Three Graces. He is aiming "purity". This represents the negative side of love that means "Love is blind".
Great addition to any mythological tapestry collection.
